Fundraising Committee

Page history last edited by Nicki Shaw 3 years ago

Update:  4-22-09

  • Picked up the samples of the tiles from the $1.80 per square foot company.  The other company has just about the exact same colors...Tiles were brought to the meeting for review of the color choices, which were basically variations of beige/soft pale yellow tones/ bone white.  A blue tile was included but it was very "bathroom" looking.  A decorated sample was made with writing on two tiles the markers.  It seems that the marker could be scratched off on my initial test, although I did not let the marker dry very long.  I will investigate at the craft store, and I will purchase a "glass" marker and see if it is more permanent.  I will also talk to the ceramics teacher.  I tried to follow up on lead to a fundraising type company that supposedly dealt with tiles and schools, etc, but I couldn't find them.  I will talk to a few more people as well, just to be sure we are heading in the right direction.
  • Drafted letter to use with local restaurants in attempts to get 10% - 15% donation if we channel alumni to their establishments the Friday prior to our events.  Committee members will take letter and try to secure locations so that we can then notify alumni of where they can meet with friends, that will actually donate back to VHS.
  • Got mock up of the laminated signs for community postings (27 inches x 3 feet). Signs less than $15 each.  Made so that they can be attached to chain link fence in the community.  Need to decide how many I will order, where I will post them, and who the District Print Shop will bill to (ASB account?).
  • Packet re:  Anniversary event should have gone out by now to the community, businesses, etc.  4 page document listed all ways to help/participate.  Cathy G. or Diane C. might have copy for your information.
  • Tracked down some wristbands.  Don't know how many we have.  Might be better used for the dance, as might not be enough for beer garden....I can price some for the garden though, as I ordered last year (cheap for grad night, and they need to order again this year, so we can piggyback onto their order...)
  • Still awaiting pricing on our Commemorative Spirit Items....

Update:  4-16-09:

  • Priced tiles for the tile wall and requested samples of four different colors from two different companies who had comparable pricing at $1.80 per sq foot/$2.00 per sq foot, which is about $0.50 per tile...Will have tiles/color charts next week for input.  Will also take photos of the tile wall where I am employed to display the writing with the ceramic pens....
  • Contacted t-shirt company utilized last year for Grad night to request quote for t-shirts, sweatshirts, tank-tops, tote bag and hats that can be sold to our VHS alumni.  Logo already created and forwarded by Cathy German.  (retro looking orange crate logo design with tiger)
  • Contacted Grad Night to arrange time to meet and look over left over wristbands that we might acquire and then use at our event free of charge for the Beer Garden and Dance events.
  • Discussed lowering price of craft booths only to $75 to encourage the crafters to participate in our event and fill all spaces.
  • Contacted district print shop and got pricing on laminated banners (2 feet x 3 feet) that could be placed strategically throughout the community, at approximately $13.05 each.  Also got pricing on signage for the craft/food/activity booths to encourage a universal "signage" approach, at $58.14 for 50 cardstock laminated signs in the 11" x 18" size, designed by one of us (produced at the print shop).

Update:

  • discussed tiles that could be built into a planter or wall (design for a fee)
  • t-shirts
  • letters will be going out for donations and booths

Nikki, this is great information. I do know that last night we set the price for the craft booths at $65 for Saturday. On the tiles, how will that work? Is it something for alum to honor people or is this for advertising? Thanks for all you've done on this.

The tiles can be used to honor someone, to leave a personal mark or message (in an appropriate fashion) at the school, or just leave a little piece of artwork as a personal momento. It was not intended for advertisement purposes, so I guess we will have to discuss that. I will have the samples for the upcoming meeting.

I like that it is not intended for advertising but for personal messages. Sorry for all the questions but is this something that is done in advance or will it be done on the Saturday event? Thanks.

The tiles will actually comprise a booth or two, like making a craft...so it will be done on Saturday.

Great info Nicki. Someone posted this on Classmates.com today, may be another place to send your letter.

Trying to organize an all class reunion at The Cantina Lounge for Friday night.
The restaurant is located at 2736 E Nutwood Ave in Fullerton (across from Cal State Fullerton)
A great locale. They do have separate private rooms if you want to reserve one for a reunion class dinner.
Still checking on details. http://cantinalounge.com
